Just like the spaces where learning first began, our name carries this spirit forward.

Historically, Peepul trees have served as natural classrooms, their generous shade offering space for communities to gather, share knowledge, and grow together. It is believed that Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under a Peepul tree, making it an emblem of wisdom and learning.

As an organisation named after the Peepul tree, we aim to be exactly that for children, a steadfast presence around which they can thrive, discover, and learn.
Peepul helps improve government school education by empowering teachers, creating high-engagement classrooms & strengthening school administration and the system. Join us in providing quality education to children and building brighter futures.

The Exemplar Schools programme is one of Peepul’s proudest achievements. Beginning modestly in 2017, we partnered with the Government of Delhi to transform three schools at Lajpat Nagar, Jeewan Nagar, and Amar Colony, into shining beacons of public education.

From an initial enrollment of just 9 children, these schools now nurture 1,568 students. Today, children at the Exemplar Schools are thriving, consistently meeting and exceeding grade-level expectations at remarkable rates, demonstrating what’s possible when classrooms are truly engaging and supportive.

But the impact doesn’t end at the school gates. These Exemplar Schools act as research and development (R&D) laboratories, testing and refining innovative approaches that can be scaled across the public education system. They are not just sites of transformation, but catalysts for systemic change.

The recognition of this work has been both national and global. In 2023, the MCD Co-ed Primary School, Lajpat Nagar-3 (Delhi) school was shortlisted among the Top 10 World’s Best Schools for Innovation at World Education Week by T4 Education. In 2025, it received the Special Jury Mention for Digital Transformation & Compliance at the FICCI Arise Excellence Awards.

Pragya’s story begins, when a shy Class 1 student walked into the Peepul-supported Exemplar School at Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi. Her parents still remember the change they saw almost immediately: a school that felt safe, classrooms alive with colour and curiosity, and teachers who encouraged every question instead of silencing it.

For a child like Pragya, this mattered deeply. In many schools, children are physically present but not learning. Left unaddressed, this often leads to dropouts and dreams cut short. But Pragya’s experience was different.

At her Exemplar School, aligned with NEP and NIPUN Bharat, learning was joyful. She worked in groups, spoke up in class, and saw her efforts celebrated. Her parents were regularly engaged through parent–teacher meetings and community forums like Chai Pe Baatcheet and Kamaal ki Class, creating a strong circle of support around her.

As she moved up the grades, Pragya’s confidence grew. She won competitions, earned accolades, and even published a short book. Each milestone reflected not just her talent, but an ecosystem that believed every child deserves equal opportunity.

Today, Pragya is in Class 11 and dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon. From a shy little girl with questions to a young woman with bold aspirations, her journey shows what’s possible when schools are reimagined: where teachers inspire, classrooms spark curiosity, and families feel invested.

Pragya’s story is just one among many. With your support, we can ensure thousands more children not only stay in school, but thrive, discovering the confidence to dream, and the skills to achieve.
